Camel reinvents itself once again with this album produced by Rupert Hine, who produced Saga's commercial successes among others. His influence is especially shown in the tracks that dwell on the edge of the new wave genre, such as the infectious "Your Love is Stranger than Mine" and the even bouncier "Neon Magic". These songs would not be looked upon kindly by most prog fans, but the album does contain enough even for the discerning fan of the epic - Survival/Hymn to Her morphs from neo classical to a romantic ballad featuring a signature Latimer guitar line and Watkins' string synths. Even the vocals are strong here. "Wait" contains an instrumental break to die for, and the same can be said for the entire 10 minutes of "Ice", which is one of a handle of immortal Camel eminences. Not bad for an "off" album, eh? Review by "kenethlevine" (Prog Archives).
RATING: 8 / 10 FANTASTIC SOUND QUALITY
