PLENILUNIO originate from Acqui Terme in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy, the same part of the country that also produced bands such as ATON'S and LOCANDA DELLE FATE. Oddly enough PLENILUNIO are fairly close in musical terms to those artists albeit they are less intricate and err more on the side of mainstream rock. Their name translates in English as ''full moon'' and it was chosen because of the band's interest in the legends of vampires and werewolves. That source of inspiration doesn't appear to stretch to their songs although these are driven by the notion of escaping from reality into a world of fantasy and dreams. Information on the band members is scant but drummer Fabio Zorgno and guitarist Fabrizio ''Biz'' Genta share a background in the fusion-based THE PITCH BOYS. The remaining members are Valter Camparo (keyboards), Roberto Camparo (bass) and lead singer and main songwriter Roberto Maggiotto. They released their debut album ''Respiri Lunghi 1000 Miglia'' in June 2012 and its accent is on short, concise compositions that blend romantic Italian pop with elements of progressive rock. The band's main influences are the major UK prog groups of the seventies, but in spite of the strong influence from across the Channel PLENILUNIO sing in their mother tongue. In fact, it is through Maggiotto's voice that the RPI mainly finds expression. He sounds not unlike the great Leonardo Sasso, thus reinforcing the above comparison with LDF, and in parallel with his passionate vocals are some distinctly Italian timbres among the keyboards and guitars.
