Nosound is one of my favorite Italian bands, so when I heard they were working on a new album for 2013, and that they were going to release an EP in preparation this year, I just had to hear it. On the new album and EP, Nosound is joined by Marianne De Chastelaine on cello and new member Chris Maitland, formerly of Porcupine Tree, on drums. Nosound is Giancarlo Erra, vocals, guitars, and keyboards; Marco Berni, keyboards and vocals; Alessandro Luci, bass, upright bass, and keyboards; Paolo Vigliarolo, electric and acoustic guitars; and Chris Maitland, drums, and vocals. "A New Start" opens with excellent percussion delivered by Maitland. The drums and cymbals sound like crashing waves, as Erra's contemplative and floating vocals weave lyrics and the storyline through the foam. Yes, off to an excellent new start. "The Anger Song" opens with very interesting and unique guitar sounds. That ever engulfing sound of mystery that Nosound always brings to the ears. If it is anger, it is soft anger, leaving you with perfectly paced drums and that weaving guitar and keyboard sound surrounding the room. Yes, the 2013 album is going to be very interesting. "Two Monkeys (alt. version)" includes some beautiful trademark piano, which every Nosound album must include. Erra's vocals, "the memory of the sound"…", "of the ocean". Yes, this EP is full of the sound and rhythm of the ocean made with instruments. Marianne De Chastelaine's cello is full of emotion. At The Pier will be a limited release and all pre-orders will receive an exclusive Nosound guitar pick (1.0mm) until stock lasts! Get this EP in preparation for the full album coming in 2013.
