Genre: Prog Metal (Prog/Gothic Metal)  /  Mexico

BIO: Along these ten years, melandrolia has shown up as one of the most significant bands from Mexico’s underground scene. distinguished for having an exceptional quality in composing, as well as for the presence within important and massive forums in Mexico City, such as the Zocalo (the country’s main civil plaza), Museo de la Ciudad de México (Mexico City Museum), Sala Chopin (Chopin Music Hall) where their first album was presented- and X-Céntrico International Festival. it is important to say melandrolia is an independent rock band, whose style has been built by the diversity of generic musical influences, such as: progressive, metal, dark & goth subgenres, space and post rock. the band has featured many bands of singular importance such as Santa Sabina & Cabezas de Cera, from Mexico’s scene, and Illuminate and The Gathering, from the international scene. their first recorded release was made in March, 2002 at Noise Attak Studio. It was a five-song demo EP recording. This work was effectively distributed during each show given by the band, until they finally presented their first formal production called Transición (Transition), recorded at Subteraudio Studio in 2005. it may be described as a concept album in which melandrolia links nine pieces through different sound metaphors, as if this was somebody’s life soundtrack. the story develops through the inner lapses of unconsciousness and ecstasy of a mind that keeps itself within twilight. Recently, melandrolia participated in the massive RocksTK Fest (international edition), at the ancient ruins of Teotihuacan and started the editing and mixing process for their next studio album, in order to present this material during the summer of 2011.
