Where has this album been all my life? A random purchase just because I liked the cover, then it ends up being one of the finest albums I've ever stumbled across. Southern Energy is very funky Afro-centric style jazz, that in some places is more funk than jazz, and in others the jazzier feel is the main vein. The album is also really loose, like these guys work together so well that not much rehearsing was necessary, everything just slots together perfectly. Highly recommended a really excellent album.
