*. Sense of Wonder .*

Album: Shingenma Teisen (1984)
Genre: Prog Rock (Symphonic/Crossover/Heavy)  /  Japan

Sense Of Wonder is the group of Japanese keyboardist Hiroyuki Namba. Mainly known for composing animé/video game soundtracks, Shingenma Taisen is just a vanilla album, complete with vocals (in English), that came out in 1984. It’s one of those mega-symphonic keyboard prog albums that were big in 1980’s Japan. There’s some moments of 80’s mega-cheese (the rather silly hard-rock oriented “Sadistic Psychic Tiger” especially), but for the most part it’s fairly nice, overflowing with classically-styled piano, symphonic synths and even some Mellotron. Not an absolute paragon of the style, but worth searching out for the progger who has it all, and is into this particular style.
