"The group Lobate Scarp presents prog rock that hits you right between the eyes. This band's rich melodies flow naturally like a stream, while the songs are broken down into movements much like a symphony". Lobate Scarp began introducing the universe, (well, Los Angeles- but isn't that part of the Universe?) to progressive-funk-space-opera rock, on May 9, 2006. The band features amazing musicians from all over the genre map. Adam Sears, Lobate's head songwriter, vocalist, and keyboardist, previously performed with vocal-rock group Blind Man's Bluff out of Chicago, Illinois, his home city. On drums, is Dustin Prince, who is also a band member of Cypheus Monk. Dustin studied with Tim Alexander from Primus and was previously in bands 2=3 and Mudbunnies. On guitar is Hoyt Binder, who is currently working on a rock opera with Donnie Vie of classic rock band Enuff Z' Nuff. Andy Catt plays electric and upright bass as well as sings vocals. Andy, an aerial photographer, can also be seen around town playing with singer-songwriter Gilli Moon. Last but not least is Adrienne Woods on electric cello and vocals. Adrienne has played with Kanye West, Josh Groban, 30 Seconds to Mars, and just finished a national tour with the Jonas Brothers. Although no Grammy's or MTV Music Awards have been thrown their way yet, Lobate has been nominated for Best Rock Band at the 2006 South Bay Music Awards. Adam was also nominated as Best Male Vocalist in the same year. Time and Space, Lobate Scarp's first studio album, named after the 15 minute title track, is currently in production.
