After a pretty hectic year (to put it lightly), Baroness returns in 2013 with American and European tours, as well as a live four song EP. Live at Maida Vale contains songs from last year’s Yellow and Green. I really liked a lot of songs off the double album, but ultimately felt that it was a bit unfocused and could have been a little more concise. If you feel the same, this EP may be for you. It contains four rockers which I feel are some of the album’s stronger efforts, “Take My Bones Away,” “March to the Sea,” “Cocanium,” and “The Line Between.” While the live songs sound great, they aren’t too different from their studio versions, so I would say this is really more for completists and fans of John Baizley’s artwork (and really who isn’t?). The EP will be released as a super limited 12″ featuring his iconic swan image. Live at Maida Vale will be released through Baroness’ website on LP and digital format July 23rd.
