*. Marco Sabiu .*

Album: Audio Ergo Sum (2012)
Genre: Prog Rock (New Age/Ambient)  /  Italy

Marco Sabiu was born in Italy, where he currently lives. While still studying Piano (with Jose Carreras' pianist Lorenzo Bavaj) and Composition at the “G Rossini” Conservatory of Music in Pesaro Italy, Marco entered the music business. By the time he fully graduated, Marco had already established his career as a keyboard player and arranger. Marco moved to London in 1991, starting a prolific production collaboration with Charlie Rapino as the “Rapino Brothers”. The Rapinos have worked with some of the biggest pop acts in the world: Kym Mazelle, Take That, and Kylie Minogue just to name a few. In 1998 Marco started working on his own on more challenging projects with artists like Tanita Tikaram , Perry Blake, Francoise Hardy, Filippa Giordano, Luciano Pavarotti, Ennio Morricone amongst others. He moved back to Italy in 2001 where he built his own recording studio and continued working on different projects including major national TV shows, and soundtracks. After many years at the service of an incredible array of international artists, in November 2007 Marco felt ready to go out with his own music. He went to Stockholm’s Cosmos Studio where, with just a grand piano and an old harmonium, he recorded his first solo album which is a collection of twelve lullabies. In 2008 Marco started his ongoing collaboration with the Italian rockstar Ligabue for the now legendary “Notti in Arena”. Marco arranges, orchestrates, and conducts a 70-piece orchestra each year in the 8 sold-out summer nights at the Arena of Verona before a total audience of about 125,000 every year. Those shows – presently the most popular live shows in Italy – are nationally televised, and commercial live DVDs/CDs are released. 2010 has seen the worldwide release of the monumental symphonic metal CD “CHARLEMAGNE: By the Sword and the Cross” – music composer, orchestrated, arranged, and conducted by Marco – with the legendary British actor Sir Christopher Lee (Star Wars, Dracula, Lord Of The Rings…) singing, narrating, and acting the epic story of the historically-renown European king (who happens to be one of Christopher Lee’s ancestors!). CHARLEMAGNE features full orchestra and choir (both conducted by Marco), a rock band, and international guest singers. CHARLEMAGNE will become a fully-fledged Musical in the year 2013.
