TAHSS have grown and found their sound and Manzanita is the proof this maturation. The vocals are a focal point of this record which is the first element identified while listening to this album for the first time. As always the guitars are great, complex and technical but easy on the ears and not pretentious. The solos come at the best time possible and do not feel forced or incongruous. The drums could not be better and could just as well be appreciated as standalone songs but still they mesh so well with the rest of the music that you would not know they are there. All that said, Manzanita is best appreciated on a holistic level just like the way it was intended to be. Open your ears as wide as you can, empty your mind of analytics and let the music in.
