Album: Under The Ancient Oak (2013)(Archival)
Genre: Soft Prog Folk (Celtic/Folk Metal)  /  USA

Nowhere in the description was it disclosed, but this is really a collection of demos and not a fully completed and professionally produced album. The liner notes, though are clear on this fact. I popped it into the player in the car and was greeted by (to be fair, the oldest) a track with a sound not unlike what I got out of my 4-track back in the '90s. I don't know that anyone has ever gotten a good guitar sound without lots of help and experience, so I can't hold it against them. The recording is clear, it's just the tone and mix that are wanting. The recordings do improve with the later tracks, so they definitely have been learning. All that said, the songs are very good. There is, as advertised, a strong Celtic influence and a decided prog bent. Despite the number of years the recordings cover, this is really still their "first album". There's plenty of room and potential for them to develop, so I hope this disc sells enough to let them spend more time writing and recording. Review by "Lawrence M. Amrose" (www.amazon.com).
