One of my favorite recent albums by an "old school" artist. As with RAVENCHILD this consists of a suite of songs (gee, probably would have been an "album side" in my youth) dealing with King Arthur, followed by several unrelated pieces. I really like these song cycles that Prior has taken to doing (I just found out today about LIONHEARTS, the album that followed this one and is also a suite, and have ordered it. Can't wait!) Prior tends to swing out a little more into pop / oldstyle prog with these concept pieces and it suits her. ARTHUR THE KING has some really powerful and moving interludes like "Tribal Warriors", which is GREAT celtic rock with a nice synthesizer bed of sound. As always Prior's voice is amazing, and she has kept herself fresh with these concept excursions. Keep them coming! Maddy Prior. Review by "madwolf" (Rate Your Music).
