This New York trio was created in 1995 by guitarist/singer Ed Moehring. Moehring picked up the guitar at the age of 12 and pursued both singing and guitar studies throughout his school years. In response to ads in a local paper, drummer Tom Spagna (son of a veteran drummer) soon joined him followed by self-taught bassist Brian Cohen. The three stronly believe in their music and have so far released a promising debut album titled "Natural Elements" reminiscent of RUSH. Of the trio, someone wrote: "The sounds they coax from their instruments often come off like the work of twice as many players". Indeed, the three musicians show both skill and talent on "Natural Elements", the obvious star being guitarist Moehring; his dusty voice may not be everyone's cup of tea but the variety of styles and tones he displays with his instrument is quite impressive. The other two also pull their weight, bassist Cohen showing his experience while drummer Spagna holds everything down tightly. Among other tracks, the album features a 32-minute suite, namely a five-part epic of hard guitar-driven prog. In fact, the whole album gives the trio quite a workout. (Prog Archives).
