Album: The Myth of Sisyphus (2013)
Genre: Prog Metal (Tech/Extreme/Avant Prog) / USA
Fairly technical prog metal with some Avant-Garde influence. The clean female vocals are nice and the clean male vocals are OK. The extreme vocals, particularly the blackish sounding ones are not very good and annoying. The sound of the drums is pretty annoying to me, too. They are not crisp at all. I would say 20% of this album is some excellent progressive metal. The trouble is, you have to wade through the other 80% of the album that ranges from very boring prog to even a few sections of prog I just did not like at all. The songwriting MUST improve next time around. Also, please drop the extreme vocals or find an extreme vocalist that has a much better voice. I do hear potential, but what I am hearing on The Myth of Sisyphus is just not good enough.
