*. Antimatter .*

Album: Live @ An Club (2009)
Genre: Prog Rock (Crossover/Alternative/Acoustic)  /  UK

This collection of live tracks is very reminiscent of K-13 (previous live disc) only in ambiance. The recording itself is about an 80% improvement. Nice acoustic sound with soft tones and backing vocals. Well recorded and delivered. This is basically just Mick Moss on Guitar and Vocals, Danny Cavanagh on backing guitar and solo's, and a background vocalist. Raw, intimate and refreshing. Not to mention somber. Moss has a great voice and way of delivering a song over a bed of acoustic strumming that just stays with you. Some of the soloing is nice and is merely another layer to the tracks. Nothing here is overbearing or 'Heavy', just maybe a tinge dark. Being a newer set, it does have tracks from 'Leaving Eden' (totally stripped down to their written form, not electric) and the Moss tracks from 'Planetary Confinement'. Leaving Eden is well done as is 'Legions'. Features a couple cover songs that I had never heard before anyway, by Pink Floyd, John Lennon and a couple others (Working Class Hero is very well done, great vocally) so it seems new to me, but its definitely given the Antimatter somber treatment. And 2 tracks (Saviour and Over Your Shoulder) that were from the earlier era and on 'K-13'. That would be my only fault, if any, with this set. I would have liked to have a few more tracks from Confinement and Eden instead of repeats from the first live set. And a slight less bit backing vocal. But very minuscule faults really. This is a great listen. I believe it would be very appreciated if it was ever heard by more than the very very few it seems to make it to. Its unfortunate and I really feel lucky to have discovered Antimatter in general. Mick Moss is a raw talent. Brilliant once again. And again I will write another un-noticed Antimatter review, but screw it.... Review by "Dons Word (Don C)" (www.amazon.com).
